Download Festival 2024 – Saturday. For their first Download festival appearance, indie rockers The Hunna took their debut in their tattoed stride as they engored their thousands of heavy audience in their set with an enrapturing ease.
Since they dropped their first record in 2016, the guys have been on an insistent incline into the upper echelons of the rock scene. Frontman Ryan Potter thrashes around the stage, smooth vocals in the air and guitar in tow.
The muddy ground is surprisingly firm as fans push closer to the stage, hands raised in the air with The Hunna’s catchy chorus’ coming out of their mouths.
From never having played Download to being straight on the Apex stage, it must be exhilarating, but the band take everything in their stride and whacks out a killer show with some snazzy additional instrumentals.
The joys of being able to add those extra layers of larger-than-life festival stage antics have clearly been put into action. During their set I managed to nip over to the Opus stage to see Metalcore champions Bleed From Within. Blazingly good, I would expect nothing less than to see them bringing their hurricane of a show to the Apex soon.
