Johnny Churchill

WRITER
Like the Scorpions, Johnny Churchill was Raised on Rock. Introduced to '80s classics like Queen, The Quo and Meat Loaf from an early age, this, like all gateway drugs, led to the harder stuff. Live shows by W.A.S.P, Maiden and Ripper-era Priest, among others, set the tone for many years of gigs and eventually writing about gigs.

Back in the day, Johnny wrote for a number of different sites, including briefly being UK correspondent for the US-sleaze site MetalSludge, before joining forces with the mighty MetalTalk way back in 2011. And he's been here ever since.

Highlights include interviews with Ian Hill and Wolf Hoffmann, a multitude of album and gig reviews, sambucas and hangovers. Plus, I worked with MetalTalk founder Steve Göldby to bring KK Downing back to the stage with the Ross The Boss Band at Bloodstock in 2019.

Current favourite bands: Accept, Avantasia, KK's Priest, Dynazty, Eclipse and Judas Priest.

Favourite drummers: Scott Travis, Les Binks, Nick Menza, Stet Howland, Frankie Banali and Sean Elg.
