Soen has released the title track of their upcoming album Memorial, along with a music video. The album is set to be released on 1 September 2023 through Silver Lining Music. The band have added a show at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 13 October 2023 as part of their Memorial 2023 tour. Tickets are available from here.
The new single, Memorial, is a combination of powerful melodies, heavy guitar riffs, and driving rhythms. The song’s ferocious groove highlights the weighty subject of war, complemented by Joel Ekelöf’s evocative vocals.
“It is a song to remind us of the victims of the power games that our so-called leaders play”, founding member and drummer Martin Lopez told us.
“It’s about PTSD,” vocalist and co-founding member Joel Ekelöf said, “and the effect war has on people like you and me that are sent to kill and die and have to pay that price for the rest of their lives.”
Soen do not shy away from addressing the problems and flaws of modern society with a sharp and passionate tone that reveals their pain, anger, and frustration. The guitars are edgier, the melodies are more emotive, and the lyrics are a bold expression of their soul. However, Soen’s music also demonstrates a newfound level of maturity, combining progression, aggression, and beauty uniquely and powerfully.
Soen have been building up to this moment for years, and now they’re here with Memorial, which is an inspiring modern hard rock classic.
Following an incredible set at this year’s Download festival, Soen, completed by Lars Enok Åhlund (Keyboards and Guitar), Oleksii ‘Zlatoyar’ Kobel (Bass) and Cody Ford (Lead Guitar), have added an extra date to their upcoming Memorial European tour, which will kick off in September.
It’s their only UK date to be announced so far, at London’s iconic O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Friday 13th October. Tickets are available from here.
