Hellfest Festival 2023 – Thursday. Where Metal reigns supreme, the gates of hell open wide in Clisson to unleash the three-day onslaught of pure auditory fury. What better way to start, than with Coheed And Cambria?
We headed to Main Stage 01 to catch some of Coheed And Cambria. I was taken aback by how loud this festival is. I could hear them before getting there! The backdrop with Neverender hung behind them, and we could see Claudio’s face under all his beautiful locks.
Joshua was dripping with sweat on drums but with so much enthusiasm on his face. Camera phones were up everywhere, and crowd surfers started with The Liars Club.
As the set went on, Claudio showed off his skills with quick finger movements. A big mash-up followed towards the end. Everything was so creative. We saw shredding on a double-head guitar behind his head.
Finishing nostalgically as expected with fan favourite Welcome Home, Coheed And Cambria perfectly captured the mood. This was fitting for Hellfest as so many fans return each year to their Metal Home.
Generation Sex

Generation Sex were fantastic. A rough and ready riot of a good time with Sex Pistols deep cuts like Silly Thing and Black Leather alongside Generation X classics like Dancing With Myself.
Generation Sex finished an all too brief set with the infamously riotous punk rock reworking of Frank Sinatra’s My Way.
Elsewhere, this year there is a new merch store. Store? It is a massive new merch building for Hellfest.
