Glenn Hughes is back with a new album, Chosen, set for release on 5 September 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl and a UK Tour to follow in October. This new album marks his return as a studio solo artist after a nine-year break.
“Songwriting is deeply personal to me,” Glenn said, “and I generally write and record when I have something to say. It’s been nine years since I recorded my last solo album, Resonate. There have been recordings and collaborations with other artists since 2016.”
Chosen is a captivating return by the man with the distinctive style which blends the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. The title track was released in June, which was an appetising teaser for the album and shows the fine creative relationship between Hughes, Soren Andersen (guitar), Ash Sheehan (drums and Bob Fridzema (keys).
“When writing Chosen, I went back to my life drawing board,” Glenn says, “writing about the human condition, love, hope, faith and acceptance. I write about how I feel on the inside and not externally.
“My life is lived from within, in the present moment. It’s an album of soul food, and I’ve never been so grateful, right here, on planet earth. Music is the healer.”
The follow-up single, Voice In My Head, was released in July. “It tells the story of what’s going on in my subconscious mind,” Glenn says. “It’s a song that most definitely needed to be written. Very therapeutic. We all have ‘this voice’. Observe, recognise and be a witness, and let go.”
There has been plenty going on with Glenn this year, with a collaboration with Robbie Williams on his new single Rocket, which also featured Tony Iommi, as well as work with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on the single I Wanna Play My Guitar and a slot with Black Country Communion at this year’s Hellfest.
A third single, Into The Fade, has been released, whetting the appetite for the October tour. Into The Fade is about “a life of acceptance,” Glenn says, “being here now, and living in the present moment.”
Chosen is set for release on 5 September 2025 via Frontiers Music Srl. Pre-orders are available from ffm.to/glennhugheschosen.
You can see Glenn Hughes live in Europe in September and early October. The UK leg runs from Bristol on 14 October to Glasgow on 25 October, when Glenn and his band are then set for dates in South America. Tour ticket details can be found at GlennHughes.com/tour.html.
