Joining Styx as The Brotherhood of Rock Tour rolled into Toronto were former Eagles man Don Felder and long-time REO Speedwagon member Kevin Cronin. While Styx played their 1977 album The Grand Illusion in full, Kevin Cronin presented the REO Speedwagon Hi Infidelity and Felder dipped into his Eagles history, as well as a song from the Heavy Metal film.

Don Felder
Don Felder kicked off the night, starting off strong. Playing a slew of Eagles hits, as well as a few originals, including Heavy Metal (Takin’ A Ride) from the 1981 cult classic animated sci-fi/fantasy film Heavy Metal.
Although parting ways with The Eagles in 2001, Felder definitely did not forget how to sing those melodies or strum each note of those classic tunes.
From One Of These Nights and Take It Easy, to Life In The Fast Lane and Heartache Tonight, the crowd was on their feet, singing along. Hearing the songs that served as the soundtrack to many people’s lives in the 1970s not only live, but being performed by an original Eagles member is otherworldly.
Felder is still kicking ass at 77, even releasing The Vault – Fifty Years of Music in May. Tonight, he and his band helped deliver the songs flawlessly.
Kevin Cronin
Kevin Cronin, formerly of REO Speedwagon, was up next, and he had no problem keeping the energy high.
Although unable to perform under the REO name anymore, Cronin still delivered a set full of REO Speedwagon tracks that started out by playing the classic Hi Infidelity record in its entirety.
An album that is filled with quality songs from top to bottom, the band’s AOR sound translated to the live stage seamlessly, making these tracks feel larger than life.
Cronin switched between playing a Fender Telecaster and a grand piano while handling lead vocals.
Whether he was rocking out on the guitar during tracks such as Take It On The Run and Shakin’ It Loose, or sitting behind the keys to deliver REO’s famous ballad, the Cronin-written Keep On Loving You, his musicianship never wavered.
Nor did his talented band of musicians.
The brotherhood within all three of tonights bands is visibly strong.
