Download Festival 2024: Saturday Shines Through Controversy

Download Festival 2024 – Saturday. It is day two of Download, and though the rain continues, glimpses of a sunny afternoon are getting closer and closer. Before the music began, the big news came as Barclays suspended its sponsorship of all Live Nation festivals for 2024—including Download—after protests from bands and fans over their financial support to defence companies supplying Israel.

An overwhelming reaction to this became rife within the industry as artists expressed their concerns and, in some cases, boycotted some of the largest events of the season. The reaction has been felt as a resounding success, as previous hesitations from the scene were looking to hinder this year’s events.

With that in the minds of many, the day starts with even more of a punch than yesterday. The sell-out festival kicked off the day at 11 am sharp with performance mastery from Bambie Thug and Metalcore mastery from on-the-rise band Heriot.

With a headline slot from Fall Out Boy beckoning, this year’s Saturday features a plethora of knock-out to-be performances from all corners of the arena.

The party will continue long into the night, with The Doghouse stage hosting acts up until 3 am. Time for a coffee to kickstart the attitude and a big boot to conquer the ground.

Might even head over to the Liquid Death skate ramp for a purely viewing experience. Sober or not, sometimes it is just better to watch and enjoy.
