Terminal Sleep, a melting pot of heavy music championing self-empowerment and gender equality as well as the importance of mental health, have signed with Nuclear Blast Records and have this afternoon released the new single They Circle Below.
Well-known for their fusion of Metal and Hardcore, They Circle Below shows perfectly how Terminal Sleep provide a frantic experience staggering between grooves and headbanging.
“The song explores the journey of navigating one’s self-doubt and the drowning pressure of self-set expectations,” singer Bec Thorwesten says, “overcoming mental turmoil and the only way out being through.”
The Melbourne Metalcore band formed in 2022 and were shaped over the pandemic. They are unapologetic about their fierce style and have gathered quite a reputation for delivering explosive live performances. It was this that helped to seal the deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
“Last year, a pal of mine hit me with a link and said check this out,” Nuclear Blast American Label Manager & A&R Tommy Jones told MetalTalk. “It was to a few unreleased songs by Terminal Sleep from Melbourne, Australia.
“One listen and a bit of research, and I was all the way in. Last January, I saw the TS crew from down under in Hamburg, Germany and holy hopping kangaroos. I was completely blown away.
“Bec was in full beast mode, and I thought she was going to eliminate the entire room. A must-see. I am ecstatic to usher in Terminal Sleep to the worldwide Nuclear Blast family! LFG, don’t sleep!”
“It is a privilege to be welcomed into the family amongst so many legendary bands we grew up listening to and fresh new bands we have on repeat,” Terminal Sleep told MetalTalk. “We could not be more excited to bring in the new era of Terminal Sleep with Tommy and the whole team at Nuclear Blast.”
Terminal Sleep are in the UK briefly, appearing in a co-headline with Spaced at Manchester’s Star & Garter tonight (10 July), and headline The Bunkhouse in Swansea tomorrow (10 July). You can also catch them at 2000Trees on 11 July 2025.
