Acres to celebrate Burning Throne in March UK shows

South coast four-piece Acres will release their sophomore studio album Burning Throne on 3 March 2023 via A Wolf At Your Door Records. The band will also play eight UK shows, starting at The Black Prince, Northampton, on 10 March 2023.

“I am extremely proud of this record but making it wasn’t easy,” Guitarist Alex Freeman says. “I had to teach myself how to write on my own again, and knowing that it was all on me was pretty unnerving.

“But I feel like the pressure of the record and the frustration of being secluded due to the pandemic allowed me to create a vibe that I’ve wanted Acres to explore for a long time, and I’m really stoked with the outcome.”

When You’re Gone, the fourth song released so far, “was written about almost being in limbo,” the band said. “A lot of us have found ourselves being head over heels in love with someone and not feeling like the other feels the same, and I’ve had a lot of people close to me recently suddenly finding themselves living a new life in the blink of an eye and struggling to deal with it.

“When you are so content and happy with the person you love, and then it’s all taken away from you, it’s a hard thing to digest and process, and it leaves you wondering what to do next.”

Into Flames was released late last year, along with a video directed by Lewis Cater (All Time Low, Hot Milk, Sum 41). “Into Flames is about having everything you love getting taken away from you,” frontman Ben Lumber said. “During the pandemic, everyone’s life was turned upside down, and this song is about the fear of the unknown, wondering if things will ever be as they were.”

Hold On is another track which has found favour in the MetalTalk offices. “Hold On is a very personal song to me,” Vocalist Ben Lumber said. “It’s about watching someone you love destroy everything around them and being able to do nothing about it.”
