The Metal world was shaken when Judas Priest sensationally announced the departure of founding guitarist KK Downing in April 2011 and although both KK and the band did not go into specific detail about the split at the time, KK did say: “There had been an on-going breakdown in working relationships between myself, elements of the band and management for some time. There were at least 21 reasons why I decided to quit.”
Filmed by Shani Phillips. Big thanks to Paul Clark Snr and AJ Mills.
The very impressive Astbury Hall
In the three years since the split, KK has not spoken to the music press, apart from a very excellent interview with MAF where he discusses the creation of the classic ‘Screaming For Vengeance’ album which you can read here.
In this three-part video interview, KK discusses his involvement with Brummie Metallers Hostile, his extensive 40-year career with Priest and his 320-acre Astbury Hall home with championship-standard golf course built into the grounds and his plans to open a hotel and luxury residential lodges on the estate.
And KK has a special message for the Metal world at the very end of the interview…
