British rock institution Thunder are set to bring their legendary 1998 Live album roaring back to life, with a brand new remastered edition arriving on 16 January 2026. The release marks the first time the record will be available on vinyl and digital formats, alongside new CD editions, giving fans a fresh chance to experience one of the band’s definitive performances.
Originally recorded in 1997, Live captured Thunder at a pivotal moment. Bassist Chris Childs had just joined the line-up, locking in a chemistry that has powered the band ever since. The shows from this era are raw, energetic and packed with extended solos, spontaneous moments and intense interaction with the crowd – the sort of full-blooded rock and roll that makes you feel like you are standing right in front of the stage.
In 2025 the album was carefully remastered, with earMUSIC aiming to preserve the untamed live energy of the original recordings while delivering a powerful modern sound. The result is a release that honours a key chapter in Thunder’s history and offers both long-time followers and new fans a chance to relive the late ’90s club and theatre days in impressive clarity.
The tracklist serves up 22 cuts from across the band’s catalogue, including stone-cold fan favourites Love Walked In and Dirty Love, alongside the likes of Higher Ground, A Better Man, Backstreet Symphony and more.
Bonus material extends the experience further with additional acoustic and studio recordings, including New York, New York, Pilot Of My Dreams, Everybody Wants Her, Lazy Sunday Afternoon and more deep cuts from the vaults.
Thunder – Live lands on 16 January 2026 on multiple formats: digital, 2CD, 3LP gatefold and limited 3CD and 4LP editions featuring all the bonus content. It is an essential document of a band whose blues-soaked Heavy Metal and hard rock attack remains as passionate as ever.
The line-up on Live features Danny Bowes on lead vocals, Luke Morley on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Ben Matthews on guitar, keyboards and vocals, Chris Childs on bass and vocals, and Gary “Harry” James on drums.
For anyone who has ever shouted along to Love Walked In or Dirty Love in a packed venue, this remastered release is as close as it gets to stepping back into that moment. Pre-orders are available from here.
