Download Festival 2024 – Sunday – Sum 41. There is not a single person I could speak to who would not know who Sum 41 was. Either that or if they said they didn’t know who they were, they would go, ‘Oh yeah!’ as soon as they heard a line sung or a tune hummed.
Whatever the response, the band came to Download 2024 and hit the Apex stage as the sun beamed down and the energy was high.
Enlivening the throngs of fans, enthusiasts and punters alike with their pop-punk, skate-rock style, we got all the classics, Fat Lip, In Too Deep and the rest.
But what makes this show special is that it is part of Sum 41’s farewell tour.
For thirty years, this band has given us everything of their musical selves and more, grown a generation of alternative skate rockers and enough catchy chorus’ to keep those end-of-night sing-alongs alive.
As far as last-ever tours go, their late afternoon slot at Download proved to be a testament to a beloved band and the music they have gifted us.
Deryck Whibley and the crew gave us their all. A true memory to last in the minds of those in attendance today as we say goodbye to Sum 41 in style.

Download Festival 2024 will mark the second year of the festival selling out, with weekend, day and camping tickets now completely gone. The festival will reunite its incredible community of fans for a jam-packed five-day event (June 12-16).
