Live Odyssey: Immersive Exhibition On The Best of British Music Opens Next Month

Live Odyssey, a groundbreaking multisensory exhibition that takes fans on a journey through the evolution of British music history, opens on 22 May in Camden Town. The attraction blends state-of-the-art technology with live performances, creating a space where fans can connect with an array of musical legends, from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin to Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys.

Live Odyssey’s Creative Director, Gary Prosser, said: “Live Odyssey is not just a tribute to the rich tapestry of British music; it’s a celebration of the community, creativity, and passion that defines our live music scene.

“This journey through our musical history is a heartfelt reminder that every great artist starts somewhere, and it’s our responsibility to nurture those beginnings.”

The experience is a two-and-a-half-hour musical adventure through six decades of British music, starting with the early anthems of the 1960s and 1970s, and continuing through the Britpop explosion of the 1990s to today’s cutting-edge hits.

There are six different rooms that recreate the sights, sounds, and cultural movements of each decade, with adjoining bars in most so guests can party with their favourite rock legends – albeit 3D holograms of them.

Previously unseen live footage and authentic photographs of the UK’s music scene adorn the Live Odyssey walls, along with a rotating exhibition of heritage items, including David Bowie’s microphone from Glastonbury.

3,500 original album and single covers, live art installations, and exclusive prints for sale will also be featured in a rotating exhibition, curated in partnership with Pop Nouveau, the holder of one of the world’s largest private collections of music art.

An exclusive collaboration with John Lennon’s sister, Julia Baird, capturing Lennon’s life and musical journey, will be on display from Live Odyssey’s opening on 22 May. It is an artistically driven, immersive exhibit that details the early years of Lennon’s life, up to his stratospheric fame with the Beatles. Through a combination of art, soundscapes, projections, rare artefacts, and live performances, guests will experience the unorthodox childhood, broken family life, and the many sides of John Lennon, as candidly told by his sister.

The Lennon Wired Exhibition will be a particular highlight, paying tribute to John Lennon’s artistic legacy and eclectic style and features a collection of segments from microphone leads, acquired and created by renowned artist James Wilkinson.

Baird said: “I’m overawed to know that these wires James has included in his work were part of the creative process that became the iconic song, Imagine. I am sure you will love it as much as I do.”
