RockFit / ‘This Is How To Be Festival Fit In Only Four Weeks’

When the amazing team at RockFit got in touch and asked MetalTalk’s Sara Harding to try out a few online exercise classes, she thought, hell, yes. They had a plan, and it left Sara declaring that “this is how to be festival fit in only four weeks.”

Us rockers are renowned for enjoying a beer, a cheeky takeaway and, in my case, the odd lady petrol (vino). So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get rid of my wine belt. Especially after Christmas, working from home, the pandemic and the lack of gigs to mosh at, I literally ‘jumped’ at the chance.

I’m sure some of us have a few pounds to lose without spending too many Great British Pounds, as RockFit’s online class deals are highly affordable. I joined up and picked my level and payment plan. Simples.

There are several different classes for all abilities and walks of life. I’ve started on the easy level as I still suffer from post-cancer fatigue. After consulting my GP, I fired up my laptop, signed up and enrolled in the online classes. They are easy to follow, with plenty of tips and advice, plus the best darn rocking playlist to exercise along to.

Also, if you can get along with the classes, they are dotted all over the UK, and the team often feature in pop-ups or flash mobs everywhere.

They also performed at Bloodstock 2023 and at the UK’s largest rock festival, Download, and have even appeared on Sky Arts in our TV highlights. If you want a taster, just head over to YouTube, where you can take a look at what this incredible brand does. There is an incredible and inspirational online community on socials too. RockFit makes you feel like part of the family, and we are all together on this journey together to feel fit and fabulous.

RockFit is fronted by its dynamic founder and CEO, Hannah Hawkey. “The best part of my job is seeing the progress made by everyone in each case,” she told me. “Seeing this inclusiveness and sense of community present in our classes makes me incredibly proud.”

And proud flame-haired rocker Hannah should be, as RockFit has now become a huge UK brand, proving that rock and getting fit is the perfect synergy.

Most of the classes are fronted by the highly personable and encouraging Hawkey and are a clever mix of low and high-impact classes. They are beautifully crafted and choreographed, too. I’ve learned some killer new dance moves, which I can’t wait to show off at the next gig/party/festival or dance floor.

Each class has a brilliant setlist of rock and Heavy Metal anthems to shake your thang too. I’ve even discovered some new tunes courtesy of the RockFit playlist that I’ve now added to my Spotify. The moves are totally melded with each track that is played.

So I’ve got down and dirty to Rammstein, moshed out to Motörhead, power punched to Def Leppard, stretched my lycra to Van Halen, shaken my butt to Skindred and got my cheesy moves and grooves on to Poison.

I’m sure my neighbours have a laugh as they spot me through the balcony, busting my moves and adding in my air guitar, as well as singing at the top of my voice. But I’m loving it. And four weeks in, I’m really feeling the benefit.

I am moving easier, sleeping better and feeling so much more energised. I actually look forward to working out every afternoon and feeling pretty proud of myself for getting my arse off my sofa, watching Homes Under the Hammer, and getting fit.

As Hannah says, “RockFit is the alternative way to work out. A heart-pumping, fist-pumping combination of dance, cardio and toning set to iconic tracks that compel you to move.”

The classes are great for anyone, anywhere, and even my cat joins in.

Right, I’ve got my next RockFit class coming up, so I’ll just grab my legwarmers, hairband and air guitar.

  1. What a fabulous write up about the best fitness family in the universe!
I am a long time Rockfittie and I wholly concur with all the smushiness written about Hannah and her marvellous creation.
I am fitter and happier than I was before Rockfit, I have an extended family whom I adore and it is an absolute privilege to be part of the Rockfit global takeover 🤘🏻🥰

  2. RockFit is the thing ever! I’ve found friends, a genuinely inclusive community and confidence to exercise even though I’m older, fatter and disabled. So many banging tunes, loads of bands to discover and fierce dance moves that masquerade as flailing (in my case). Come join the ‘not a cult’ my lovelies mwah ha haaaa!
