Phil X is ‘Right On The Money’ with new single

The fifth album from Phil X and the Drills is complete and the first single from ‘Stupid Good Lookings Vol. 2’ had just been released as a single. You can see Phil talking about ‘Right On The Money’ below.

For the song, Phil, along with  Daniel Spree  (bass/backing vocals) and  Brent Fitz  (drums/ backing vocals), recorded the song at the legendary Capitol Studios  with  Chris Lord Alge. This was part of a ‘Mix With The Masters’ master class where Chris was demonstrating how to track a band.

The beautiful thing about this song is that going into the day there was an uncertainty of the arrangement and the result, recorded with very few overdubs, was captured by Chris in a way which conveys the great energy of the band. ‘Right On The Money’ is one of three songs recorded that day.

The new album ‘Album Stupid Good Lookings Vol. 2’ will be released in the near future on Golden Robot Records. It features a different drummer on every song, including the likes of Tommy Lee, Liberty Devitto, Kenny Aronoff and Ray Luzier.
