Download Festival 2024 – Sunday. Machine Head. After three days wandering these grounds, one of the band t-shirts I have seen the most has been Machine Head.
Ferocious in their music and ferocious in their festival performance intent, the band struck onto another level, going down on a blazing saddle of Metal wrath at this year’s Download.
Barely a phone was in sight as their audience was locked into their show.
The stage was set like some dystopian machine warfare, with a screen behind showing clips of blackened, waving flags, like we were standing at the helm of battle.
What made them one of the pioneering bands in the new wave of ’90s Heavy Metal was brought to life here in Derby.
Head-banging to Is There Anybody Out There? amongst a throng of fellow Metal lovers brought about that kind of gut-lifting feeling only the heaviest of music played live can.
By now, the sun was beaming high, and Machine Heads froth of Progressive Metal indulgence took hold of the festival.
Must see them again and soon.
