Kula Shaker / Charge Of The Light Brigade Is First Salvo From New Album

The impressive return of the original line-up of Kula Shaker is continuing at pace with the news that their new single, Charge Of The Light Brigade, will be released on 10 April 2025. Kula Shaker have confirmed that their eighth studio album will be released this year with international tours, more headline dates and festivals throughout 2025 still to be announced.

For the new single, Crispian Mills told MetalTalk that he and the band, Jay Darlington [Hammond organ], Alonza Bevan [bass] and [Paul Winter-Hart [drums] “went down to deepest-darkest Devon to record some singles. We laid it down live, very quickly and this was the first.

“It’s a very heavy-sounding record, considering there’s no electric guitar on it. The drums and acoustic guitar were recorded at the same time onto the same microphone. Space echo, fuzz bass, and harpsichord got added afterwards and — Presto! The cavalry arrived.”

Natural Magick was released on 2 February 2024, topping the Independent Album Charts in the UK, leading to successful tours of North America, Asia, the UK and Europe. “Natural Magick is a tantalising, welcome and long overdue return,” MetalTalk said. “Finally, some things are right in the world again.”

If Natural Magick carried on the wonderful tradition set by this four-piece with the release of K and Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts, then this new album is sure to enhance their burgeoning 70’s inspired ‘commercial’ record reputation.

Twenty-five years on from the debut album K, Kula Shaker have proved they are still one of the most exciting and ecstatic bands around, an unstoppable tour de force, with kinetic energy cursing through every second of their “electric” live shows.
