Golden Robot Records have announced the upcoming release of My Guitar, a powerful and deeply personal single from the late John Sykes. The track lands on all major streaming platforms on 13 February 2026.
My Guitar was recorded and updated during the sessions Sykes worked on after signing with Golden Robot Records. It is positioned as part of the creative body of work he was actively developing at the time and is a track intended to capture the unmistakable spirit, tone and fire that made him one of hard rock and Heavy Metal’s most influential guitarists.
Golden Robot Records Address Speculation
With discussion already swirling around the posthumous release, Golden Robot Records says the music is being issued with “the utmost respect, care and affection” for Sykes. The label adds that the release is permitted under his recording agreement and describes My Guitar not as a retrospective reconstruction, but as a continuation of work Sykes began while he was with them.
A First Look At The John Sykes Four-Track EP
My Guitar is described as the first glimpse into a four-track EP worked on during Sykes’ time with the label. The EP is due to be released later in 2026, with the stated aim of preserving the integrity of his original vision and honouring his legacy.
John Sykes is best known for his iconic work with Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy and Blue Murder, alongside a celebrated solo career. From his early rise with Tygers Of Pan Tang to his era-defining role on Whitesnake’s multi-platinum 1987 album, Sykes helped shape a generation of riff-led hard rock and Heavy Metal.
The label notes that, prior to his passing in 2025, Sykes recorded four tracks while working towards a new album. Those recordings will now be released as a special EP as a final glimpse into the artistry of one of rock’s most formidable talents.
