Greta Van Fleet to unleash third album Starcatcher this July

Greta Van Fleet will release their third album Starcatcher on 21 July 2023 via Lava/Republic/EMI Records. The first single, Meeting The Master, is out now. Starcatcher can be pre-ordered from https://gvf.lnk.to/starcatcher.

“Meeting The Master peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher,” the band said. “Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventual group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It’s an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos.”

Starcatcher was recorded at the legendary RCA Studios in Nashville with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb in the chair. The band mast use of the large recording room to capture the energy of their explosive live performances.

“We didn’t really have to force or be intense about writing,” guitarist Jake Kizska said, “because everything that happened was very instinctual. If anything, the record is our perspective and sums up where we are as a group and individually as musicians.”

The ten songs in Starcatcher explore the duality of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness. “We had this idea that we wanted to tell these stories to build a universe,” drummer Danny Wagner said. “We wanted to introduce characters and motifs and these ideas that would come about here and there throughout our careers through this world.”

Starcatcher builds on concepts from their acclaimed second album, The Battle At Garden’s Gate [You can read our review here]. “When I imagine the world of Starcatcher, I think of the cosmos,” bassist/keyboardist Sam Kizska said. “It makes me ask a lot of questions, like ‘Where did we come from?’ or ‘What are we doing here?’ But it’s also questions like, ‘What is this consciousness that we have, and where did it come from?'”

Greta Van Fleet have sold over one million tickets for their live shows as fans flock to experience their electrically charged live performances. Their entire 2022 arena tour was sold out, with MetalTalk catching the band in Illinois.

Greta Van Fleet returns to the road next month for festival shows in Atlanta and Memphis, with further shows to be announced. Formed in Frankenmuth, Michigan, in 2012, Greta Van Fleet consists of three brothers—vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka and bassist/keyboardist Sam Kiszka—as well as drummer Danny Wagner. Together they have performed across multiple continents and sold over 3.5 million records worldwide.
