Wanna Join A Gang? How About The Zac Schulze Gang?

With an explosion of raw, magnetic blues and rock, this is the gang everyone wants to join. Located at the iconic 100 Club, 100 Oxford Street in London’s West End, The Zac Schulze Gang were ready to rock. From The Sex Pistols to Oasis, to the Rolling Stones, to the late Amy Winehouse, the 100 Club is an institution for artists to showcase their work.

The room was vibrating with anticipation just before the band stormed the stage with their opening hit, Woman, a fast-paced, highly rhythmic, expressive, and aggressive song filled with soul and spirit.

Zac Schulze, only 25 years young, oozed charisma as the lead vocalist and lead guitarist – the leader of the gang, you might say. This strong trio includes Ant on bass and Ben on drums, both 27. Zac holds his own while his body feels the music run through his veins. With note-bending magical moments that captivated the crowd, watching him play his 1978 Fender Stratocaster, you could not help but be in awe.

As each song played, vigorous, blues-infused rock ‘n’ roll solos ignited the room into a frenzy. There were clear influences from Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, and Dr. Feelgood. However, The Zac Schulze Gang is unique in its own right.

With a jump, the atmosphere suddenly turned up a notch as a burst of energy blasted the room with their standout hit, High Roller. Guest star Nigel Feist accompanied the guys on stage with his faultless, bluesy harmonica playing. It felt like being transported to Chicago in 1980. It was fantastic. The crowd was a vibrant mix of young and old, united by the same aim – to have a wild ride.

As the room danced, chanted, hollered, and sang, there was almost a moment to breathe before things slowed down. A rich, seductive blanket swept across the room as the band began Off The Handle, a Rory Gallagher cover. As Zac flowed into another fearless solo filled with depth, the crowd were lost in the moment.

Recently, this young band with old souls, originally from Medway, Kent, signed a record deal with Ruf Records. The gig was not only to celebrate but also to showcase their third album, Straight To It. Having opened for Samantha Fish’s Bullet Proof UK tour earlier this year, this talented trio is poised to be huge on the music scene.

Hellhounds, a 9-minute medley of influences, dedicated to the late Tony Dowler, was another knockout moment. The music overtook the lyrics, and The Zac Schulze Gang had us all under their spell. With a slow-burning build-up of sound and pace, Zac’s ability to control the room and inject a relentless dose of heart-pounding, foot-stomping, thigh-slapping blues and rock was extraordinary.

This exceptionally talented frontman and his merry men are paving the way into the future of quality rock ‘n’ roll. And by the end of the twelfth hit we longed for, it is safe to say everyone was now part of the Zac Schulze gang!

The Zac Schulze Gang are still touring, so grab a ticket if you can – you will not regret it.
