Mudvayne Close Out L.D. 50 25th Anniversary Tour In Connecticut

American Heavy Metal band Mudvayne are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their L.D. 50 album and brought the tour to Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena. This show marked the last stop on the tour, which was also celebrating the release of a few new songs. The Mohegan Sun Arena is one of Connecticut’s premier concert venues with a capacity of 10,000, most of whom left the venue with their ears ringing.

The Mudvayne world was shaken just days before the tour was to kick off on 11 September, with the passing of lead guitarist Greg Tribbett’s wife, Debbie. She passed from a rare, rapidly spreading form of cancer called angiosarcoma.

Mudvayne called on their Marcus Rafferty to fill in for him, as Greg wanted them to continue with the tour, and I am sure the whole Metal world sends their love.

Mudvayne hit the stage at 9:25 pm to play a set of nine songs from L.D.50, plus an encore set of five others from their early career, as well as Sticks And Stones, a newly released song. However, they did not play their other recently released song, Hurt People Hurt People.

The Mohegan Sun Arena crowd was on fire from Static-X and Vended, who opened the night with their unique brands of music.

Charismatic frontman Chad Gray took to the front and centre of the stage to kick off the set with their most popular song from the L.D. 50 album, Dig.

However, he did not stay there long as he was all over the stage during his high-energy performance, including singing almost an entire song standing on the rail which separated the crowd from the photo pit.

Mudvayne were a blast to photograph. However, I had to keep an eye over my shoulder for the many crowd surfers that made their way into the pit.

Ryan Martinie also found himself all over the stage, pounding away on his bass with a jacked and tattooed physique and devil horns. The floor had no seats, so it was like a huge mosh pit where the energy was infectious and crowd surfing was abundant.

After Nothing To Gein, and a brief pause, Mudvayne doubled down with a six-song encore set to which everyone was on their feet and jumping at Chad’s command.

Chad gave a shout-out to their awesome road crew and let us know that Greg wanted them to go out and support the 25th anniversary of L.D. 50 and their fans. Then they ended the night with Happy? from 2005’s Lost And Found album.

After a sweat-filled night of moshing, crowd-surfing, and listening to Mudvayne celebrate their L.D. 50 album, the fans were left feeling exhausted and probably with their ears ringing a bit.

We’ll see what the future holds for Mudvayne. Hopefully, they continue releasing more songs and get back out on tour next year.
