Swedish hard rockers Crazy Lixx are back with their highly anticipated eighth studio release, Thrill Of The Bite, and it’s as nostalgic and headbanging-worthy as you would expect from the quintet of talented musicians.
Crazy Lixx – Thrill Of The Bite (Frontiers Music s.r.l.)
Release Date: 14 February 2025
Words: Taylor Cameron
Masters at combining the nostalgic sound of the ’80s with their own unique hard rock sound, Thrill Of The Bite is another great addition to the fantastic catalogue of Crazy Lixx. Their first release with Robin Nilsson (The Cruel Intentions) behind the drum kit, Nilsson’s style and flair blends into the group’s heavy rock sound perfectly.
An album consisting of ten hard-hitting tracks, including singles Call Of The Wild, Little Miss Dangerous, Midnight Rebels, Hunt For Danger, Crazy Lixx have delivered what could arguably be their strongest release to date.
Pulling influence from bands such as Mötley Crüe, Kiss, Ratt, Def Leppard and more, Crazy Lixx have become a beacon of hope for hard rock fans around the globe. Having a wide fan base consisting of those who grew up in the heart of the Hair Metal scene, as well as young fans who have a new appreciation for the flamboyant era, Crazy Lixx are at the forefront of those trying to keep the spirit of the ’80s alive.
With a big production sound, Thrill Of The Bite has the punch of an album released in the late ’80s. From the melodic guitar solos shredded with perfection and strong vocal delivery, to the bass and drums adding a strong backbone to every song, Crazy Lixx continue to prove that rock ‘n’ roll is still very much alive and well.
As stated in the track Who Said Rock N’ Roll Is Dead, “We may be bleeding and a little roughed up, but far away from being defeated.” Hard rock may not hit the charts anymore, but its fan base remains loyal, supporting these bands in any way they can.
Not only influenced by the sound of the ’80s, Danny Rexton’s (vocals) love of campy ’80s horror films and b-monster movies is a large inspiration behind the music videos accompanying the singles Little Miss Dangerous and Hunt For Danger.
Vampire-esque women, fog machines, leather and interesting set designs, the band’s love of the ’80s is used as a blueprint for their image in the best ways. A Crazy Lixx music video is always worth a watch.
Recipe For Revolution, Hunt For Danger and Little Miss Dangerous are some of the band’s best work. With the catchy hooks, tasty guitar licks and strong melodies, it is hard not to have these tracks on heavy rotation.
From its opening track, Highway Hurricane, all the way down to the closing track, Stick It Out, Thrill Of The Bite is filled with high energy from start to finish.
Being an album you will want to listen to in its entirety, Thrill of The Bite will be in high consideration for one of the top rock albums of the year.
