What do you do if you are in between albums, have just finished another successful summer run of festivals and have some winter shows to come? Well, if you are Doro Pesch, you release Warriors Of The Sea, an album with a liquid-filled vinyl offering to boot, to bridge that gap.
Doro – Warriors Of The Sea
Release Date: 24 October 2025
Words: Paul Hutchings
One of Heavy Metal’s workhorses, Doro never seems to rest. Her enthusiasm and vibrancy are incredible. There is always a new release on the way from the Metal Queen, and 2025 is no exception.
This album is a collection of rarities and B-sides, along with a specially penned title track influenced by her two Metal Queen Metal Cruise events that took place earlier this year. And Warriors Of The Sea is one of the real highlights on an album that should make every Metalhead smile and sing along.
Warriors Of The Sea is not a long album, under 40 minutes in total, but with ten tracks, including five live songs, there is enough here for new and old fans alike.
It is the title track that sits most comfortably with me, a true Doro anthem that demands a fist in the air, head thrown back and a roar as you join in with the chorus. It is well placed to start the release, with its usual bombastic style hitting the right notes.
An interesting cover of AC/DC’s Touch Too Much follows, and for me, this is a song that just does not work without Bon Scott. It was his smirking naughtiness that made the song, and despite the best efforts and some crunching heaviness, it is a song that misses the mark.
Similarly, the version of Horns Up High struggles to make an impression. But to counter that, the version of Tattooed Angels is great, whilst the mandatory German sung Seelied touches the heart strings, a ballad that only Doro could deliver.
The back end of the album has five live tracks from recent tours, and they are all fine songs from her catalogue. The feisty Children Of The Dawn kicks things off, whilst the high-tempo Speed Metal of Fire In The Sky never gets old and has me nodding along.
One of Doro’s strengths is her variation in style, despite what many would say. She can do the power ballad, the classic rock track or the straight-up energetic bursts. See Fire In The Sky and Revenge, both going at full pelt here for evidence of the latter.
Whether the Blue Curaçao that fills the special version will be a huge selling point is debatable, but it is certainly something well worth collecting if you are a fan, despite the pricey tag.
As Doro says, “We first considered Rhine water, but the liqueur is simply better in colour and taste.”
