The Wild Things played a special acoustic set as part of the one year anniversary of the Gibson Garage. Naturally, MetalTalk was there to see it. Opening with the upbeat Only Attraction, the four-piece band sounds tight and looked like they were having a blast.

Led by vocalist Sydney Rae White, The Wild Things sonically sound like an exciting, contemporary take on the late ’90s alt-rock sound. Imagine the musical love child of No Doubt crossed with The Cranberries.
The band’s most recent album was produced by The Who’s own Pete Townshend. You can hear a touch of Pete’s solo material with its raw emotional lyrics and simple, clean melodies. Songs like Better Off Alone and Heaven Knows lend themselves perfectly to the unplugged setting.
The Wild Things also have an easy connection with the crowd, with guitarist Rob Kendrick joking with the front row and the photographers.
The Wild Things said that playing unplugged for them is something of a rare treat and it shows today. The closing song, YRS, is a more anthemic rocker, but given the acoustic treatment, it sounds like early Foo Fighters in the best way possible.
Wearing the biggest smiles, The Wild Things end an all too brief six-song set and pose for photos with the fans. Their performance was arguably the best of the afternoon and certainly marks them as a band to keep an eye on.
