MTROFEST / UK Thrashers Combat Homelessness In Epic Metal Showdown

MTROFEST is the continuation of UK Thrashers in their efforts to “loudly combat homelessness” and raise money for Shelter, having raised over ÂŁ6,000 in the past. Moshin’ The Roof On Festival will be held at The Hairy Dog, Derby, on 13 April 2024.

MTROFEST will showcase the best underground Thrash Metal talent, with 12 bands, on the one main stage with no clashes at the ridiculously low price of just ÂŁ12 (plus booking fee) for early bird ticket buyers.

“The Hairy Dog is stoked to be joining forces with UK Thrashers to accommodate this stacked day full of riffs, beers, mosh pits and partying,” Nick from The Hairy Dog told us. “Did we mention riffs?! Just try and name us a better way to raise some much-needed cash for Shelter UK. We’ll wait…”

The full lineup will be announced over the next two months, but MetalTalk can reveal the first three bands announced.

Top of the bill are East Anglia’s Elimination. “We are so excited and thrilled to be headlining the inaugural Moshin’ The Roof On Festival,” vocalist/guitarist David Hill told us. “The UK thrashers guys have been so incredibly supportive of Elimination through the years, so when they asked us along for this incredible festival, it was an absolute no-brainer. All proceeds are going to Shelter, so make sure you get your ticket early.”

Yorkshire-based Sidewinder will bring their blackened crossover to Derby.

“UK Thrash has been a part of our lives for over 20 years in one way or the other,” guitarist Jonesy told us, “and to be able to support the UK Thrashers annual charity push for Shelter by jumping on a bill with some of the hardest UK bands around at the moment is unreal. Stacked line up for a wicked cause, bring it on. Thrash til Deaf or whatever Lemmy said… Mosher’s up front, let’s fucking go.”

London New Age Of Hate Thrashers Fracture Point will bring their NOLA-tinged crossover Thrash to Derby for the first time. “We are super pumped and honoured to be making some noise in Derby alongside a plethora of awesome bands,” vocalist Sean said. “And who knows, we might even remember the setlist.”

Having raised money previously by releasing two compilation albums with launch parties, this is the first year that sees an event as a standalone fundraiser. All bands and the venue have waived their fees to ensure all profits go to support the homeless in the UK.

“I am so excited to be able to make MTROFEST a reality,” Neil from UK Thrashers told us. “We’ve been daydreaming about the concept since the first year of Moshin’ The Roof On, but this year, it’s finally going to come true. The lineup is absolutely stacked with 12 bands locked in, all of which could be headliners in their own right, and I am beyond excited and humbled by the bands and The Hairy Dog’s support and willingness to waive their fee to help us raise money for Shelter.”
