Megadeth Announce Behind The Mask Global Cinema Event

Heavy Metal titans Megadeth have teamed up with Trafalgar Releasing for a global cinema event, Megadeth: Behind The Mask, which will premiere in more than 1,000 cinemas across over 35 countries on Thursday 22 January 2026. The one-night-only screening lands on the eve of the release of the band’s self-titled final studio album, due 23 January.

In Megadeth: Behind The Mask, Dave Mustaine pulls back the curtain on 40 years of Megadeth, sharing untold stories from the band’s past and the creative fire that still drives them.

Woven through the film is the world premiere of the new self-titled album, played in full, with Mustaine offering track-by-track reflections on what will be the band’s last studio statement. The result is an immersive celebration of one of the most influential bands in Metal history and a powerful closing chapter to a four-decade career.

“This listening event is going to be amazing,” says Dave Mustaine. “I can’t wait to share it with thousands of my closest friends around the world. I have so much gratitude for everyone who helped bring this film to life, especially you, the fans! Now let’s fire this up… and pass the popcorn!”

Kymberli Frueh, EVP Programming and Content Acquisitions at Trafalgar Releasing, adds, “We are thrilled to bring fans together for an exclusive first listen to Megadeth’s final studio album that brings their career full circle. This is not just another Megadeth album: it features a bold reimagining. This cinema event is a celebration of the riffs, the intensity and the uncompromising spirit that have defined Megadeth’s legacy. We can’t wait to share this moment with the fans who have been with them every step of the way.”

Leading into the film and album release, Megadeth – Dave Mustaine, Teemu Mäntysaari (lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars), James LoMenzo (bass) and Dirk Verbeuren (drums) – have already unveiled two new tracks. I Don’t Care and Tipping Point, the album’s first single, are both out now with accompanying videos.

A very special bonus track has also been released – a reimagined version of Ride The Lightning, the 1984 Metallica classic co-written by Mustaine with James Hetfield, Cliff Burton and Lars Ulrich.

The self-titled final album will arrive via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label. Pre-orders are available now – Visit the Megadeth Shop for more details.
