Jijitzu will make its live debut this Saturday at Damnation Festival, where both John Cxnnor and Frontierer are performing. Prepare for a gnarly, cyberpunk massacre of noise, breakbeats and vengeful apocalyptic synths.
Denmark’s electronic, industrial, doom-rave duo, John Cxnnor, love finding a force-of-nature vocalist and bringing them into their sonic and visual, Terminator-inspired, universe. Some of their previous collaborations include Kim Song Sternkopf (MØL), CABAL and EYES.
Known for their dystopian soundscapes, crushing industrial beats and apocalyptic fusion of techno and metal, John Cxnnor, formed by brothers Ketil and Rasmus G. Sejersen of post-apocalyptic Metal band LLNN, are carving out their own corner of the extreme music underground. They breach the wall between techno raves and Metal pits with a sound straight from a sci-fi nightmare (or fantasy, depending on where you’re sat).
On their latest single, Jijitzu, John Cxnnor’s industrial beats and frantic drum ‘n’ bass meet Chad Kapper of noise terrorisers Frontierer’s unhinged vocals. Frontierer are swiftly becoming recognised as one of the most uncompromising slabs of modern Mathcore viciousness, so together, they have created one hell of a slice of sonic violence.
Jijitzu is a high-speed martial arts massacre somewhere between ’90s jungle breakbeats and a cyberpunk fighting tournament straight out of Tekken.
“We misspelled this track on purpose, creating our ‘own martial art fusion’ plus a subtle, personal and respectful knuckle to the real Jiu Jitsu artform,” explains Rasmus.
