MARK TAYLOR’S BIG CITY NIGHTS: ACDC

Sold out within minutes, secondary ticket sites were raking it in with fans desperate to see these classic rockers in what could well prove to be their last ever world tour.

A solitary date in the capital could have been sold out ten times over.

The atmosphere within the stadium was buzzing like a cacophony of swarming bees with the crowd making more noise than on Cup Final day.

AC/DC blast into the title track of the current album, ‘Rock Or Bust’, with Brian Johnson out front in trademark flat cap whilst Angus Young duck walks in bright red schoolboy uniform still holding on to a youthful zest of energy.

Despite Malcolm Young’s retirement due to illness and bad boy Phil Rudd being left behind back home, their replacements fitted in with ease. Nephew Stevie Young and Chris Slade, both having been here before, kept a tight rhythm and beat.

Each song is simply introduced by Angus playing the opening chord and the place goes nuts to the monstrous riffs of songs such as ‘Back In Black’, ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’, ‘Sin City’, a rare performance of ‘Have A Drink On Me’ and the “Oi” chants of ‘T.N.T’.

A giant bell bongs for ‘Hells Bells’ and an inflatable doll in basque and stockings fills the stage for a rip roaring ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’. Angus rises on a platform amongst the crowd for guitar heroics on ‘Let There Be Rock’ before cannon smoke fills the air on ‘For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)’.

Rock ‘n roll in it’s purest form – simply the best.
