Saturday, at Legends Of Rock 2024, is our usual poolside meet-up and swim and seeing most of our peers in their budgie smugglers, chest rugs, and bad hair has us reaching for the eye bleach. Slightly bleary-eyed, we blow out the cobwebs, heading back into the arena and V Lounge for what promises to be a doozy of a line-up.

Legends Of Rock 2024: Thursday – Friday – Saturday – Sunday.
Buster James, a stalwart of British Rock, has the V lounge absolutely packed to the rafters for a breakfast-busting feed of hard rock and blues. There was some classic dad dancing for this one, as this bunch of pro’s deliver a very polished set.
Up next are our favourite local lads, Memento, doing us Brentford posse proud. Tamaz, Gus, Pablo, et al take us on a journey through the back catalogues of Dio, Bad Company, Whitesnake and Europe.
Whilst reviewing, of course, I had to keep a beady eye on my phone as my team, Brentford FC, took on Chelsea and drew.
Four Wheel Drive
And in breaking news, Four Wheel Drive are back and bigger and more badass than ever. The trio take us on a fast-speed tour of their greatest hits from Hammered Again to Big Red.
The whole of West London and the legendary Cavern descend on the V Lounge for some balls-to-the-wall rock. With nods to AC/DC and Airbourne but with their own unique twist and catchy anthems, the boys know how to work a crowd.
Will Richards, who also plays with the awesome new rock act Thrxnes and Ben Austwick, shredding like a maniac, they tear up the legends lounge like a revved-up Formula 1 car. Fast, loud and furious.
Over in the arena, we are treated to some totally talented tributes to The Stranglers, Green Days, The Kinks, Ian Dury, Foo Fighters, and Rainbow.
A special mention must go to the truly stupendous, and Legends veterans, Fleetwood Bac, who always deliver a stunning and authentic set. In the V Lounge, we witnessed two incredible bands covering The Darkness and Alanis Morrissette.
Davy K Project
A band we all love are Celtic rockers, the Davy K Project. This highly talented three-piece from the Emerald Isle had played before to a rapturous ovation and happily returned for more of the same.
The band released a terrific album during the Covid time called unsurprisingly Lockdown, and plenty of the set was from that era including the awesome title track Be Alright and The Storm were well received. It took no more than 30 seconds before the dance floor was packed with dancing, bopping and nodding heads.
It’s almost impossible not to move to the band’s blistering output. A superb rendition of the late, great Rory Gallagher’s Messing With The Kid gives us both blues barrels and then a couple of clever covers from Bob Seger to Michael Sembello.
All in all, another stellar set from a band oozing charisma and talent in equal measures. A real highlight.
We remain in the Legends Of Rock V Lounge for the highly anticipated set from V8. A covers band like no other as they don’t play the bog standard songs. As they kick in with Bodies by Drowning Pool, we heavy rock fans are on the dance floor, headbanging like crazy.
A fookin’ fantastic high-energy set that takes us from Disturbed to System Of A Down.
HookJaw
Guitarist Craig Price from Forever Moore makes a return to legends with his own original band, the brilliantly named Hookjaw. This band covers a number of music genres and tempos. The hard hitters and left-handed drummer take us through an aural adventure. Devil horns were up as this band showcased their chops.
Then, it was time to rush into the Russ Sacko Saxton Arena for our last dose of rock that night as Live Wire took to the stage with a full-on AC/DC onslaught.
Their Angus, sans satchel, delivered all the moves as he hopped and skipped across the stage doing his thang and playing his geeetar pitch perfect.
As for Brian Johnson, he was so authentic it was just like witnessing the real deal. It’s really got us primed for the original ACCA DACCA gigs later this year. Electric, energising and entertaining. Epic!
The Legends Of Rock late-night jam was hosted by one of our favourite and most talented guitarists, Gus Mark, who invited the creme de la creme of musicians to rock us into the night.
