Progressive Mastery in the Sun: Tesseract At Hellfest 2026

Hellfest 2026. Clisson, France. New live setup, two female vocalists joining Daniel Tompkins, adding a lot of texture to what are already excellent vocals. Tesseract does not have much in the way of a stage setup to start with, but those flashing LED strips work well in the context.

And they sound as crushing as expected. If it is prog you want, this is the place this afternoon. And when the frontman yells “push it back”, I will let you guess what happens.

As the set evolves, so do the visuals on the massive LED screen, as trippy as the songs.

The incredible Juno, one of their greatest tracks, with its syncopated riff and complex time signature (like pretty much the whole set) is a certain highlight.

So is Natural Disaster, from their latest album, War Of Being, with a great solo moment from the two female singers.

The technical prowess on display is truly impressive. So is their ability to put on a great show on one of the two main stages, even if it is 2 PM and very, very hot already.

Alyssa White-Gluz and Dirk Verbeuren – Acoustic For Savage Lands

You know how weird and wonderful things just happen? Well, the Hellfest app signalled, just as Tesseract were starting, that Alyssa White-Gluz would be playing an acoustic song for the amazing Savage Lands at their booth in Hellcity.

While it was a short acoustic set (her first one ever), it sounded amazing. And it was for a good cause. Hard to fault.
