Hellfest 2023 – Def Leppard – Friday. There are a handful of legendary bands who are so consistently excellent when they play live but they don’t receive the credit given to those bands on a rise and fall of clashes and comebacks.
Def Leppard returned to Hellfest 2023 to deliver one of the most satisfying, high-energy, and sublime festival sets this writer has ever witnessed.
A glorious, hit-packed set from Joe Elliott and the boys puts everyone in the crowd into the best singing form, and platinum hits come one after the other.
Hysteria, Pour Some Sugar On Me, Let’s Get Rocked, and Photograph are all here, but it’s the new songs from Diamond Star Halo that are the surprise. These are fine songs that slot in just fine between genre-defining anthems like Armageddon It.
Def Leppard remains a national treasure and a truly exemplary band for any younger artists to understand what longevity means.
