Finnish rock legends Hanoi Rocks will release The Complete Collection 1981-1984, a deluxe 6LP and 6CD box set, through BMG on 13 November 2026.
Originally formed in Helsinki in 1979 by singer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Monroe, Hanoi Rocks became the first Finnish band to chart in the UK and built an international following with a collision of punk energy, glam rock ‘n’ roll and vivid live performances.
The collection brings together the band’s first five studio albums: Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks, Oriental Beat in its 2022 The RE(AL)MIX edition, Self Destruction Blues, Back To Mystery City and Two Steps From The Move.
A sixth disc, Motorvatin’!!!, collects rare and previously unreleased material, including BBC sessions, demos and alternate versions. The physical editions also include a 36-page photo book featuring rare and previously unseen images, alongside art cards for the studio albums from the band’s original run.
“The new Hanoi Rocks box set includes all the albums by the original band, including the Oriental Beat 40th anniversary release, The RE(AL)MIX, which came out in 2022,” Michael Monroe said.
“There’s also a special extra bonus LP of rarities, with even some previously unreleased tracks. The artwork has been put together nicely, and it has a vast amount of great, rare and some never-before-seen photos.
“If someone is not familiar with Hanoi Rocks, this is a fantastic opportunity to get to know the band’s unique material. I recommend this box set to everybody.”

Hanoi Rocks paired Monroe’s livewire presence with guitarists Nasty Suicide and Andy McCoy, bassist Sami Yaffa and drummers Gyp Casino and, later, Razzle. By 1984, the band appeared poised for an international breakthrough with Two Steps From The Move, but their first US tour ended after drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley died in a car accident. The band split in 1985.
Their influence continued through the glam Metal era, with bands including Guns N’ Roses, Faster Pussycat, Skid Row and Poison citing or reflecting their impact. Hanoi Rocks later reformed in the early 2000s and continued until 2009. The original line-up reunited once more in 2022 for Monroe’s 60th birthday concert at Helsinki Ice Hall.
