Hellfest 2022 / Mastodon leave us mesmerised to the core

With a distinctive preference for psychedelic octopuses, Mastodon attack the Hellfest stage just as they attack their instruments. From the very first notes, they take us through a series of cathartic soundscapes played with extreme finesse.

One peculiarity of this band is that they have three-part vocals, where both guitarists and the drummer co-share the lead. They all have very distinctive tones, which makes the blend all the more special.

A backdrop of psychedelic imaging and a succession of phat riffs, together with guitars attuning in perfect tandem, beautifully climaxes into all fists up in the air early in the set for Crystal Skull, and this is the way going through the several eras of Mastodon.

The band are positively grateful to be here and bid farewell with a courteous goodbye in French while wishing people to enjoy the rest of their weekend.

They then unleash their final number, Blood And Thunder.

When Mastodon plays, people get mesmerised to the core, which makes indeed for an amazing set.
