Eric Gales has released I Want My Crown, the first single taken from his new album Crown, with a video featuring Gales and Joe Bonamassa facing off in a boxing squared circle, in front of referee and five-time Grammy Award winner Keb Mo.
Eric Gales will release his new album Crown, produced by and featuring Joe Bonamassa, on 28 February 2022 and will tour the UK over eleven dates, beginning at Brighton’s Concorde on 23 March 2022. Support for the tour will be British blues-rock guitarist Danny Bryan.
Lead single I Want My Crown finds Eric singing about his self-sabotaging past. Five years sober and creatively rejuvenated, Crown finds Gales sharing his personal experiences and hopes for positive changes.
Gales was a child prodigy, releasing his debut album The Eric Gales Band in 1991, aged 16 via Elektra Records.
Having battled drink and drug issues, including a term in prison in 2009 for possession of drugs and a weapon, Crown has been described as his career-defining new album and find the blues guitarist much happier for it.
“I guess the songs would answer the question more or less,” Gales says. “I definitely don’t have anything clouding my view, and it’s definitely a much purer place where it’s coming from.”
