Download Festival 2023 – Saturday. With the right levels of brutality and arena-filling anthems, Antisaint tore into their Dogtooth set with ferocity.
Both Monty Sewell and Paul Monkhouse stumbled across this band and loved them. So yes, we wrote about them earlier, but here you are again.
Hailing from a small town in the States, fulfilling the dream of playing Download seems an almost overwhelmingly emotional experience for them.
Still, with numbers like Who The Fuck Are You played with a blistering intensity, the reception received saw many new worshippers at the feet of these particular saints.
Stray From The Path
Elsewhere, New York hardcore punks Stray From the Path were on fire at the Opus stage. With enough anger to light up any number of small towns nearby, their furious polemic didn’t just hit targets but obliterated them.
With a roar, Fortune Teller instantly became an anthem that will echo long after the last note of Download fades. Built to tear down governments and authorities, Stray From The Path could be on any number of watch lists. The revolution is here.
Municipal Waste
Municipal Waste brought a welcome blast of old-school Thrash Metal to Download in a surge of adrenaline.
Having beaten several issues to get here, the quintet tore into their bruising set, a wild Beer Pressure and the monstrous Slime And Punishment seeing a huge cloud of dust rising as circle pits were whipped into a frenzy.
Truly a joy to behold.
