British Thrash Metal/Hardcore band Cage Fight have signed with Candlelight, with their self-titled debut album set for a 13 May 2022 release. The first track, Shine Don’t Fade, can be heard below.
Cage Fight features former Eths vocalist Rachel Aspe and TesseracT guitarist James Monteith.
“I cherish the ability to channel my anger through this outlet,” Rachel Aspe told MetalTalk. “In a world full of uncertainty and frustration, this type of music was the only thing I found solace and balance in. These songs have a deep meaning for me, and I hope this is something that other people can relate to.”
There is a violent rage at the core of this new band’s music, which is visually backed up by the Cage Fight logo tattoed on a palm. The image was created by Rachel Aspe, a tattoo artist by trade.
Bassist Jon Redi summed up nicely the anger and frustration behind Cage Fights songwriting style. “In the wake of the greatest media heist in modern British times and the fall out of the cataclysmic debacle that is Brexit,” he said, “it seemed perfect stimulus to write lyrics that confronted the continued world of systemic racism, cultural divide, and an antiquated class system wrapped up with personal mental health issues and the challenges of modern living.”
