Häxan

It’s the power trio of Häxan who play the first riffs in the Sophie Tent, and they do so in big style. Thursday night’s minor sound muffles are gone, and it’s a crisp, clean sound that sees the Welsh ladies lay down a marker with a vibrant set that throws in two new songs as well.

A crowd comprising staunch supporters and new fans alike warm to a flowing and confident set. It’s a powerful statement and one that bodes well for the band’s next chapter.

Nervosa

After Desert Storm’s huge riffs have wobbled the blue skies, Brazilian’s Nervosa drive a ferocious crack through them. Although the band have been to the UK several times, it is many in the crowd’s first opportunity to witness their might.

They deliver a fine set which comes at you a breakneck speed. Dust swirls from the circle pits that break out, but this merely seems to increase the pace on stage.

What’s more, the band, with a settled lineup up are having fun. Dispersed between the snarls and husky roars, Prika Amaral is beaming with her bandmates.
