Ayron Jones to bring Child Of The State to London in December

Ayron Jones, who will be playing at Download 2022, has announced a six-date tour later this year. It will be his first overseas performances of the new material from his critically acclaimed debut album Child Of The State.

Child Of The State, released last month, included two top 5 US singles and has seen the rock guitarist included in the Fender Next class of 2021.

“I’m this cat that is playing rock, and I probably look like I came from the hood, which I did,” Jones told us. “But I’m not the stereotype, and I want people to be taken aback. I want people to think about what Child Of The State means. And when they open up this record by a hoodie-wearing Black man from the worst of circumstances who is creating this sonically gorgeous music, I want people to think about that, too.”

The recent video of Ayron Jones performing Supercharged (Live From Nashville) can be seen below and leaves an exciting taste for these upcoming gigs.

Explaining the themes of Child Of The State, Jones told us, “Having faced the abandonment I did as a child, and how that affected me in life, is really what this album is about. It’s the triumph of overcoming all of that and still being that person. I’m the same kid looking for his parents that longed for love and support.

“A lot of people have faced adoption and abandonment, but it’s not really talked about as to how that affects people, and I thought it was important to be a beacon of hope for those people. To stand for something and prove not everyone has to be a stereotype or statistic.”

The excellent and explosive Take Me Away was an earlier single, which is a superb example of the band’s guitar-based rock and illustrates the stark reality of his lonesome childhood.

“Take Me Away is a tale told by a kid from Seattle,” Jones told us. “A story of freedom actualised through perseverance. It is my hope that this music video will remind the world what it means to be American. Rock ‘n’ roll is synonymous with our pride and as stubborn as our spirit. It will never die.”

Hailing from Seatle, the Northwest city has championed Jones’ sound with consistently sold-out shows and an embrace from Seattle music royalty, including Duff McKagan and Mike McCready.

His reach extends well beyond the region too, as he has opened for Guns N’ Roses and B.B. King, as well as performing alongside Run DMC, Public Enemy, Rahkim, Jeff Beck, Theory of a Deadman, Robin Trower and Spearhead.
