Sad news from Scotland this morning as guitarist Dani Evans announces his departure from Alestorm.

Dani has made a personal statement which is self explanatory and can be read in full below.

At the time of writing there is no word from the Alestorm camp.

Dani’s statement reads:

“It is with an extremely heavy heart I must announce my departure from Alestorm. The decision was taken on a professional basis and agreed upon by all parties concerned. I hold nothing but respect for the guys and there is no bad blood between us.

“My future as yet remains uncertain. I will not be returning to live performance again but I am looking at returning to my crew position for a short while over the summer while I figure out my position and what to do with all my free time.

“The last 9 years have been a blast and I have met friends for life, enemies for life and seen some of the most beautiful parts of the world. I can’t thank Alestorm enough for the opportunities they gave me.

“To all the people I met, good or bad. Thank you. I’m gonna miss seeing you all but if you roll in to Glasgow know I’ll be there! There is too many people to even consider listing so to all the bands, crew, endorsers and most importantly, fans who have supported not only Alestorm but myself, thank you. You are the reason that we were able to go on to such heights and the reason the guys will keep going up!

“For now, I’m taking a break from it all and living a normal life for a little while and enjoy not shouting about fucking pirates for a good long period.

“It’s been a pleasure but now it’s time to move on and find a new path. Daniel Evans”
