Saxon / New Roswell Video A Perfect Blend Of Classic Metal And Ufo Mythology

Saxon have released a new video for There’s Something In Roswell, the second single from their upcoming new album Hell, Fire And Damnation. This will have both lovers of the band’s earlier style and UFO theorists drooling.

The Roswell Incident is a pivotal moment in UFO history. It unfolded in July 1947 when an unidentified object crashed near Roswell, New Mexico. Initially labelled a “flying disc” by the U.S. military, the official narrative later shifted to a weather balloon.

The persistent speculation about extraterrestrial involvement has fueled conspiracy theories, and the incident has become a cultural touchstone, symbolising government secrecy with debates regarding the existence of unidentified flying objects and the potential for extraterrestrial contact.

“It’s such a great story,” Biff told us. “It’s been around for years and years, and it’s just what the song says: there must be something in Roswell because there’s too much hoorah about it still.

“I like the tune as well. I think it harks back to ’80s Saxon musically, a really good bridge between the classic Dallas 1 PM era and Saxon 2023.”

2024 promises to be a great year for Saxon, with the European tour alongside Judas Priest and Uriah Heep kicking off in the UK in March and the recently announced co-headline US tour with Uriah Heep titled Hell, Fire & Chaos – The Best Of British Rock & Metal.

“Getting these shows in March 2024 with Judas Priest and Uriah Heep meant it made sense to push and get the album made faster,” Biff said. “So we got on with it haste and pulled it out of the bag. It was tricky, but I think it’s safe to say we managed it well.”
