Root Zero / M2TM Winners Triumph At Bloodstock 2024

Bloodstock Festival 2024 – Sunday. It’s getting busy in the main arena, but a short hop across to the New Blood Stage provides a little respite from the sun and the chance to catch South Wales Metal 2 The Masses winners Root Zero.

Catton Park, Derbyshire – Sunday 11 August 2024

Root Zero

MetalTalk covered their win at Day Of Wreckoning back in late June and the six-piece continue their impressive form with a stylish 30 minutes of what they term Ethereal Metal.

As ever, there are the hardcore packed on the barrier, but it is the reception of the less committed that proves the barometer to how well any band do here, and the response is warming.

There is even a small circle pit at one point, complete with inflatable dinosaur doing circuits. At times it looks like the emotions might overpower, but keyboardist/vocalist Giacomo Fiderio holds it together and leads the band into a memorable set.

It is the vocals of Sasha Bannister that really capture the imagination, the elfin frame possessing a big voice that resonates deeply.

A triumphant set ends with hands aloft, and it is now time to see how Root Zero can progress from here.

Bloodstock 2024 will be held over the long weekend of 8-11 August 2024. MetalTalk’s Paul Hutchings, Adrian Stonley, Paul Monkhouse and Keith Conlin will be reporting from Catton Park.
