When the Montreux Jazz Festival comes calling, even the likes of Lemmy, Phil Campbell, and Mikkey Dee could not resist the temptation to play a set on the Lake Geneva shoreline. Motörhead bombed into Montreux, Switzerland, in 2007 and played one of their more diverse set lists. This epic concert is celebrated in the release of Live At The Montreux Jazz Festival, due 16 June 2023.
Montreux Jazz Festival was created by Claude Nobs and held annually in Montreux, Switzerland, over two weeks in July. Now in its 55th year, the festival draws 250,000 music lovers from all across the world and celebrates the industry’s emerging and contemporary acts whilst paying homage to music’s legendary acts.
Motörhead’s set was recorded at the legendary Auditorium Stravinski on 7th July 2007 during the band’s Kiss Of Death tour. The Lemmy/Campbell/Dee lineup was in potent form. In the two tracks released so far, I Got Mine and the cover of Thin Lizzy’s Rosalie, listening to the individual performances proves how top of the tree each was in their own class.
Originally a pure jazz festival since its inception in 1967, Montreux began showcasing other styles of music throughout the decades and today presents artists from across every genre imaginable.
Motörhead, Live At The Montreux Jazz Festival ’07 will be released on double LP, double CD and digital through BMG. Pre-orders are available from https://motorhead.lnk.to/montreuxPR.
