Third time is a charm for Scarborough’s finest as the second reunion of Little Angels takes off like an absolute rocket. With the surprise announcement of a brand new tour causing seismic waves across the community and many of the dates selling out immediately, there was a general air of celebration. But, even surprising the band themselves, the release of new material was something that no one saw coming.
Little Angels – Big, Bad And Back
Release Date: 6 November 2026
Words: Paul Monkhouse
It has to be said, though, that few bands had the ability to create magic on the spot in the way this quintet did, their obvious chemistry as potent as when they were at their initial peak. Whilst the weight of expectation for the dates was huge, this bonus of brand new material seems to be purely driven by their ability to get in a room together and have a great time.
Given that one eye must have been on their past legacy of storming numbers and the sky-high quality control that has always been their hallmark, how Big, Bad And Back would fare was a pressing question.
Free from hyperbole, it has to be said that the five tracks here are some of the best they have ever committed to tape and stand as a blazing return to what they do best.
Skillfully balancing a little nostalgia, added maturity and the brilliant polish of Mike Fraser, each number here shines, and if it does not make you smile, it would be a good idea to check your pulse.
All For One is a tremendous opener, bright, big and glorious. The Eddie Van Halen-ish guitar sound and the bold keys herald an anthemic and rallying battle cry that will have you punching the air.
The storming and stomping Hero continues the wave, and Small Town Boys carries the sort of wonderful, wistful and triumphant feel that The Who built their career highlights on.
Doris Brendel adds some of her usual, untouchable bluesy vocals to the barnstorming You Want Love and things close with the shimmering and swaggering funk of Raised To The Ground.
It is a staggering return, but you get the feeling that Toby Jepson, Bruce Dickinson, Mark Plunkett, Jimmy Dickinson and Mark Richardson are just getting started (again).
Damn, it is good to have them back. On this form, they are untouchable.
Little Angels release Big Bad & Back on 6 November 2026, their first new material since 1994 and their first new music in 32 years. The five-track EP arrives as the band reunites for the Big Bad & Back UK and Ireland tour. More information is available at LittleAngelsOfficial.com. The EP is available from slinky.to/BigBadBackEP.
