Inglorious have returned not quietly, but with intent, pride and renewed fire. Stand does not build gently—it kicks the doors wide open. Driven by pounding drums, a groove that hits with weight, and a chorus that lifts straight from the gut, it encapsulates everything Inglorious do best. And with new album V, we find their trademark blend of emotional grit and instinctive melodic strength fully intact.
Inglorious – V
Release Date: 6 June 2025
Words: Ash Nash
Forged over multiple gigs and hard work in the studio, Inglorious are set to turn something unique and refined into something fiercer, more focused, and undeniably vital.
At the heart of this reawakening is the return of founding bassist Colin Parkinson, whose presence provides both rhythmic foundation and creative spark. Alongside the ever-commanding voice of Nathan James, Parkinson’s return reignites the flame at the core of the band.
There is a muscular swagger to the songwriting that feels recharged, refreshed and deeply personal. Inglorious are a band that have taken a breath, regrouped, and come back sharper than ever.
Following a well-earned hiatus in 2022, which capped off a formidable seven-year run including four studio albums, a live record and a covers release, not to mention tours with the likes of Steel Panther, The Winery Dogs and The Dead Daisies, the band stepped back to reflect.
Now they return with a refined lineup and a bold sense of purpose. Joining Nathan and Colin is the inimitable Richard Shaw, whose decade of service with Cradle Of Filth has sharpened his technical prowess and expressive flair. Shaw’s arrival brings elegance and fire to the guitar work, while award-winning drummer Henry Rogers (long admired for his versatility and punch) completes the lineup with drive, discipline and dynamism.
Yet it is Nathan James who continues to anchor the soul of Inglorious. Since founding the band in 2014, his reputation as one of the UK’s most powerful rock vocalists has only grown. With credits that span from The Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds to Vampires Rock Symphonic and the Frontiers supergroup Iconic, Nathan’s range and versatility are well established.
But on V, and particularly on Stand, he sounds completely at home, connected, committed and utterly compelling.
“Stand is probably the grooviest Inglorious song to date,” Nathan James told us. “It has all the classic Inglorious bits. Big riffs and a sing-along chorus. But in a totally different way to anything we’ve done before. Colin played me the riff and I instantly said, this is gonna be a single. So proud of this tune. Everyone played great on this track. Very proud of it.”
Lyrically, Stand distils the emotional core of the album: strength through struggle, defiance born from experience, and resilience not as posturing but as truth.
It captures the essence of V—an album that does not merely revisit Inglorious’ past but reimagines their identity with maturity, grace and undimmed passion.
V – The Album
V marks a bold new chapter for Inglorious. Produced by Colin Parkinson and mixed by Tony Draper—whose previous work with the band on Ride To Nowhere and Inglorious II shaped their sonic depth—this fifth studio outing fuses the grit and soul of early Inglorious with a more nuanced, textured approach.
It is a fine art to create something heavy without being abrasive and yet impactfully melodic without slipping into sentimentality, and overall rooted in authenticity from start to finish.
The album opens with Testify, a track that sets the tone with authority and immediacy. From there, the journey is rich with variety and drama.
Devil Inside lurches forward with ominous weight, built around thick riffs and theatrical tension. Eat You Alive is aggressive and unapologetic, bristling with energy, while Say What You Wanna Say punches through with confidence and clarity.
Believe emerges as a standout anthem, a melodic beacon of hope amidst adversity. The emotive In Your Eyes slows the pace but deepens the feeling, offering intimacy without losing the grandeur Inglorious are known for.
And then there is End Of The Road, a closing statement that refuses to fade into silence. Instead, it resonates long after the final chord, drenched in reflection and honest intent.
Every track feels purposeful, every arrangement carefully considered. There are no fillers here—just ten songs that showcase a band in full command of their powers, confident enough to embrace vulnerability, yet still capable of shaking the walls when they choose to.
For both longtime followers and newcomers alike, V is more than just a comeback. It is a reaffirmation of identity, a celebration of evolution and a powerful reminder that true rock bands do not simply fade away. They endure. They adapt. They come back louder, wiser and even more determined.
Inglorious have weathered the storm and emerged stronger, standing tall with something meaningful to say. V is the sound of that resilience made real, captured in songs built to last and meant to be played loud.
It is a heartfelt, hard-hitting and beautifully crafted record that deserves not only to be heard but to be felt and remembered.
