Helsott have released the title track to their new album Will And The Witch. The album, released this spring through M-Theory Audio, finds the Wacken performers incorporating thrash elements in this new concept piece.
“The album is a concept recording,” Vocalist Eric Dow told MetalTalk. “It’s basically a fan fiction story about how Billy The Kid became the fastest gunfighter in the wild west.”
The Will And The Witch single video by Raf Ortega (Ayreon, Subterranean Masquerade) is a great teaser for the new album. It shows the band, who have released two albums and two EPs so far, continues developing their style.
“There are southern vibes with banjo and fiddle,” Dow says about the album. “There are Native American vibes with hand drums and flutes.
“There is Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Death Metal, and even acoustic campfire parts. We think there are enough flavours on this album to keep any listener engaged and wanting to listen over and over again.
“The title track explores the relationship between the two main characters on the album. Musically it’s melodic and thrashy, but also catchy and fun, so I think this is a great song to introduce the listener to the full-length.”
Helsott, meaning “Fatal Illness” in Old-Norse, are a Pagan Death Metal band from southern California. The band proudly pays homage to pagan cultures and ancient mythologies while keeping true to their American influences.
Helsott are scheduled to play the Dark Troll Fest in Germany and HRH Vikings in England in 2022.
