Newly inducted into the Illinois Music Hall of Fame, Chip Z’Nuff brought his band Enuff Z’Nuff to the Lorain Palace Theatre on the Xtra Cherries tour last Friday. Chip had promised that “The new Xtra Cherries record is a potpourri of songs celebrated through our kaleidoscope of what Enuff Z’nuff is about,” and live, the band were once again on fire.

Chip Z’Nuff, who has taken over the lead singing role since 2018, brought the newest incarnation of Enuff Z’Nuff featuring guitarists Brandon Paul and Jason Herman, with Brentt Arcemett on drums, to the recently refurbished Lorain Palace Theatre in the historic part of downtown Lorain, Ohio.
Enuff Z’Nuff have been around since 1984 and released their first album in 1989. With a sound like the Beatles meets Cheap Trick with a harder edge, their melodic hooks and fantastic harmonies have been a part of their musical history since the beginning.
With yours truly being friends with the band since the beginning, so many great stories can be told. From White Castle at 4 am after a gig, to staying in hotel rooms until 5 am, and driving in the group’s van to gigs, there have been wonderful and memorable times.
Their 18th studio album of originals titled Xtra Cherries came out this summer with special guests Robin Zander, Steve Stevens, Gunnar Nelson and Neil Schon contributing vocals and music. This was the band’s first album of all new material with Cleopatra Records.
Enuff Z’Nuff opened with The World Is A Gutter, from their 1991 album Strength and also played their hit Baby Loves You, which was performed on the David Letterman show in 1991.
A shortened but powerful set including Live And Let Die, from Paul McCartney, and their two MTV hits New Thing and Fly High Michelle.
Chip Z’Nuff has been flying the Enuff Z’Nuff flag, with the band playing both headlining and support concerts, never refusing to tour to bring the music to the people.
They are always hanging with the fans after the show, taking photos, signing autographs, and talking to them like they were best friends, making these shows memorable for so many.
Chip informed me after the show that they will record a new live album at the famous Whisky a Go-Go in December and will continue to tour all over the USA and will also head back across the pond to Europe.
If you have not seen the band, I strongly suggest you take a show in and see why I always say too much is NEVER ENUFF.
