Following the release of her album Some Kind Of Feeling, last year, Orianthi is now set to hit the UK with her opening show set for Manchester’s Band On The Wall this Saturday. The Leeds show, the following Wednesday, is sold out, with limited tickets remaining for the other shows.
Orianthi released her single Attention, which exposes an annoying ex-lover’s habit of drunk texting to rile up her cooled passions. The title, on a deeper level, makes us think about the kind of attention we’ve been paying to the singer/songwriter and virtuoso electric guitarist over the past 20 years.
Of course, as well as working with Alice Cooper, Dave Stewart and Richie Sambora, she was hired by Michael Jackson for his London performances the year of his untimely death.
That said, with a Top 20 Billboard hit According To You and her gold-selling Geffen album Believe, released in 2009, there is a solid body of work there that is being enhanced by this new phase of her solo career, an era of exciting creativity and powerhouse contemporary rock ‘n’ roll.
Tickets are available from The Gig Carlel.
Joining Orianthi for this tour is Nashville-based singer-songwriter James Bruner, whose band includes MetalTalk’s Shannon Wilk. With a new single I Get Everything due out on 23 January, Bruner also has some headline shows of his own. For more details, visit jameshbruner.com.
