Gibson Trademarks Upheld As Dean Guitars Found Guilty By Jury

The jury at a US Federal court has again recognized that the designs of the iconic Flying V, Explorer, and SG guitar shapes are trademarks of Gibson, and as such, Dean Guitars are guilty of both infringement and counterfeiting.

At the retrial of Gibson v. Armadillo Enterprises (Dean Guitars), a Texas federal jury has once again upheld Gibson’s exclusive rights to its legendary guitar shapes and trademarks. Gibson says that this is another major legal victory in its ongoing commitment to protecting its iconic designs.

The jury’s decision reinforces the validity and strength of Gibson’s intellectual property rights, confirming that its guitar shapes, including the Flying V, Explorer, and SG, remain protected trademarks.

The verdict is once again in recognition of the harm caused by Dean’s infringement.

Gibson say they are turning their focus to the future, continuing to invest in innovation, craftsmanship, and the next generation of groundbreaking guitars.
