Introducing / Hell For Leather – Classic Metal With A Modern Punch

Hell For Leather is a new, and currently unsigned Brighton-based Heavy Metal band, who are just starting to find their feet on the circuit and are certainly making all the right noises to have a promising career. Hell For Leather is the name of the band and also their self-released, self-titled first EP.

Release Date: Out Now

It is clear that this band has been raised on Classic Metal, and this shows not only through their name but also musically throughout the EP.

Currently, Hell For Leather are Alex Limb on Guitar,  Rueben Whiting on Drums, Joe Rushman on Bass and Finlay Hutt on vocals.

Containing four songs, the new EP is a short, sharp snapshot of what the band are about, with driving drums, thundering bass and screaming guitars. Yes, there are clear echoes of their forebears. This is a band who are not frightened to wear their colours on their sleeves. But they have also taken that classic metallic drive and interposed their own take upon it.

Opening with Alive Again, this is hook city central with a completely bombastic style. Throw everything into the mix, and it falls perfectly to create a thoroughly enjoyable slab of pure rock mayhem. This has a great sing-along chorus line in which you can imagine fists pumping along the front row.

Raise The Rock does just that. The intent is in the title. This is a great party anthem and, like the rest of the tunes here, will be lightning hot in the live environment.

Read ‘Em And Weep is a riff-heavy chunk of rock with a catchy style and spoken excerpts that starts slowly before the guitars kick in and it is off on another magical Metal ride. At times fast and frenetic, but fantastic.

Change Of Command is a stompin’ tune, which shows their abilities as musicians and is quite indicative of what a force they can be live. Here, there is some seriously powerful guitar work from Alex Limb, jumping from screaming Slash-style riffage into a gentle blues, before roaring back again.

Hell For Leather are a band that can clearly write a great tune. There are hooks aplenty, great musicianship and sharp, impressive guitar work.

They have just finished their first full UK tour playing dates in London at The Engine Rooms in Bow, as well as spreading their wings across Worthing, Birmingham, Swindon, Blackpool, Southampton and a sold-out show in their home town of Brighton.

This is a stunning good time EP and promises great things for the future.

If they can keep up this quality of work whilst working on their first album, then their future is very bright.
