Download Festival has announced that Raven Records—a unique fusion of Heavy Metal record store, coffee shop, and alcohol-free bar—will be making its festival debut this summer. The announcement dropped fittingly on Record Store Day, cementing Raven Records’ rising presence in the UK Metal community.
Located a stone’s throw away from The Underworld in Camden, Raven Records was founded in 2023 by Chloe Marlow and Ben Dean and is more than just a place to buy vinyl or grab a caffeine fix.
“We created Raven Records for fans who want to experience heavy music without needing alcohol to feel part of the scene,” co-founder Ben Dean said.
Rooted in inclusivity and mental health advocacy, the Raven Records pop-up will offer more than Metal music and merch. Festival-goers can look forward to Heavy Metal Therapy peer support sessions, Satanic Recovery meetings for secular addiction recovery, and a slate of events designed to celebrate the culture—battle jacket competitions, sewing workshops, slam poetry, and late-night DJ sets.
“We’re looking forward to bringing Raven Records to the festival and showcasing what we are all about,” adds co-founder Chloe Marlow. “Our slogan, Join The Conspiracy, is more than just a tagline. It reflects our commitment to building a community: a true conspiracy of ravens.”
This marks the first time Download Festival will host an onsite record shop and provide structured mental health and addiction recovery services. It’s a major step in expanding the festival’s wellness programming, which already includes yoga, guided meditations, sound baths, and calm spaces hosted by Flowstate, Blink, and Diverse UK.
Download promoter Kamran Haq emphasizes the festival’s evolving ethos. “We think it’s so important to support independent businesses and for non-drinkers to have a safe space at Download,” Kamran said. “We’re always building on our wellness offerings.”
With headline acts like Green Day, Sleep Token, and Korn and heavy hitters like Meshuggah, Within Temptation, and Spiritbox on the bill, 2025’s edition promises to be the loudest, safest, and most inclusive yet.
Raven Records is located at 24 Camden Road, London NW1 9DP. You can find out more at RavenRecordShop.com. Download tickets and more festival information is available from DownloadFestival.co.uk.
